Sharing the love

BY RICHARD SCHRODER – 3RD GENERATION DAIRY FARMER
Our family has been dairy farming since the 1930s. Cooloola Milk started production on the 4th April 1999, probably being the first “on farm” processor in Australia to start under the new deregulation rules.
We were doing the processing and delivering ourselves at that time but after a period of only around three weeks we had to get more families to supply milk and take on a vendor in the Gympie area to do deliveries as sales went very well, very quickly.
We then had another vendor for Nambour and Sunshine Coast and Hinterland areas as sales continued to grow. We now employ our own drivers and distribute as far north as Hervey Bay, through the South Burnett to Kingaroy and as far south as Caloundra and have a vendor to distribute throughout Brisbane.
Cooloola Milk is Jersey milk which on average has a higher milk composition (meaning food value of milk). We don’t do any processing other than milk and cream.
We collect the milk ourselves from local farmers, process it and send it out the next day.
Cooloola Milk itself is situated on a farm about 12 kilometres south of Gympie in the renowned Mary Valley district. Pastures are irrigated from the Mary River. We employ a staff of 15, along with 3 contractors.
Producing the Jersey milk you love is our passion, 24 hours a day, 365 days each year. But such an enterprise requires commitment and dedication to bring you only the purest Jersey milk that Nature can supply.

QUALITY IN QUALITY OUT
To bring you the purest milk we source and mill premium grains and supplements for our Jerseys.
Our Jersey cows graze in comfort in the rich irrigated pastures of the Mary Valley providing them freedom to express their natural behaviour. We look after our animals, ensuring their health is monitored routinely. This guarantees them a happy lifestyle, because we know that a happy cow is a productive one.
